History

The Faculty of Engineering and Industrial Technology (former name is Faculty of Industrial Technology), Silpakorn University has been established by the Decree the establishment of Faculty of Industrial Technology, Silpakorn University according to University Affairs B.E. 2534.

It was published in the Government Gazette Volume 108, part 193 dated November 6, 1996 and the foundation stone laying ceremony was conducted on Thursday 14 March 1996. The Faculty of Engineering and Industrial Technology was established in order to respond government policy in producing technological workforce as a result of rapid expansion in industry from 1987 onwards. The University announced policy to inaugurate the new faculty by considering social and labor market requirement which was consistent to industry development in the western area/region. Then establishment the Faculty of Industrial Technology was emerged which is now changed to be The Faculty of Engineering and Industrial Technology.

The Faculty of Engineering and Industrial Technology was enrolled firstly for 65 undergraduates in May 1992 and was divided into 3 courses: Petrochemical and Polymeric Materials Engineering Program, Food Technology Program and Biotechnology Program. There was 20 students for each program. At the present, the Faculty consists of Industrial Engineering Program, Mechanical Engineering Program, Chemical Engineering Program, Technology Engineering Management Program, Engineering and Materials Science program, Electronics Engineering and Computer System Program, Bioprocess Engineering Program and Business Engineering Program.

Background : As the Faculty of Engineering and Industrial Technology was established with clarify objective in implementation learning, instruction, research and academic service of Applied Science and Engineering. The color code of the Faculty is defined to express the combination of various sciences. The typical color code of Faculty of Engineering is dark red but The Faculty of Engineering and Industrial Technology, Silpakorn University is distinguishable, therefore it is defined as crimson which reflected the creative thinking, the identity of Silpakorn University.
